Lithuanian strongmen team strongest in the world !

Zydrunas Savickas was born on 15th July, 1975 in Birzai and still lives here. As a child he was stronger and taller than his mates. He decided to go in for sports and to became a strong man himself after having watched a strong man of Lithuania show on TV in 1989. Three years later he took part in the strongman contest and left behind same opponents 10 years older than himself. He then was 13 and set the aim for himself to become the strongest of all. He began to train in powerlifting. In the second powerlifting contest in his life he broke the records of Lithuania. Zydrunas Savickas so far is the first and the only Lihuanian who managed squat with the weight of 400 kg. In powertlifthing he has got 1000 kg total. Zydrunas won the 1998 Lithunian stongman championship and set off to the World Strongest Man in Morocco. He won the silver medal in World powerlifting champioship in Japan with the result of 1020 kg. Unfortunately, the tournament in Faroe Islands cut Zydrunas' career short. He suffered a serious injury of both knees. Very few believed then that he would came back. But he did and in quite a short while. Nine months later Zydrunas won the Lithuanian powerlifting championship and a bit leter he proved to be the best in the Lithuanian strong man championship. After a year Zydrunas became the second strongest man in the world. And he managed this thanks to numerous and tiring trainings, which he did after he had recovered. The most successful year for Zydrunas was 2003. Zydrunas Savickas won the prestigious Arnold Classic 2003. And this proved him to be the strongest man of the world.
